Reaching Out to Our South Texas Community

Throughout the season, the CCCMS can be spotted at local schools and businesses, local Assisted Living Facilities & Nursing Homes, House of Rock & Havana Club in downtown CC, and in special pop-up concerts around town–plus a special concert event at ArtWalk on Dec. 2, 2016!

School Educational Programs

The CCCMS has presented student educational performances or “informances” and free concert vouchers to area students since 1985.  The number of students is now about 2,000/year.  Our objective continues to be to provide the opportunity for young people to participate in exceptional music educational experiences provided by world-famous chamber music ensembles who have expertise and passion for music education and performance.

2016-2017 School Outreach Schedule:

  • Nov. 18, 2016:  Euclid Quartet (Program for High School Students)
  • Feb. 24, 2017:  Aeolus Quartet (Program for Elementary & Junior High Students)
  • May 1, 2017:  Duo Ingolfsson-Stoupel (Program for Elementary Students)

Youth Chamber Music Ensembles

Because the CCCMS believes in the importance of music training in improving academic skills and quality of life, we have expanded our outreach to support the creation and coaching of youth chamber music ensembles.

In the fall of 2015 we began sponsoring the Youth Chamber Music Ensembles, a new program to coach pre-college music students in the performance of chamber music.  This program helps students to advance in ensemble competitions and develop a deeper appreciation of music.  In addition, these students develop invaluable life skills such as commitment and self-discipline, verbal and non-verbal communication, and the importance of critical listening and teamwork.

Free Student Ticket Vouchers to CCCMS Classical Series Concerts

CCCMS will offer approximately 100 free ticket vouchers to each of the 6 Classical Series concerts to students from area public schools, Del Mar College, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, the Corpus Christi Community Orchestra, and Corpus Christi Youth Symphony.  Our hope is to make chamber music accessible to students across the Coastal Bend, inspiring the next generation of chamber music lovers.

And Now, A Word From Our Students…

“Dear Corpus Christi Chamber Music Society,
I just want to thank you for letting the Dover Quartet and Chu Fang Huang come play at our school.  I also want to say that I really enjoyed the performance.  My favorite part of the performance was when the Dover Quartet played.  I just think it is amazing how with only those instruments wonderful music can be made.  It must take a lot of practice to be that good.  Once again I want to thank you for letting them come and giving us the opportunity to let us see them perform.”

“Dear Corpus Christi Music Society,
I never [saw] live music with those kind of instruments, violin, viola, cello, piano.  I wish I could see Chu Fang Huang again.”

“Dear Corpus Christi Chamber Music Society,
Thank you very much for bringing I think the best classical concert in the world to our school. When we had the concert I was thrilled.  I’ve never been that excited in my life.  Music is my life and the concert just [made] me speechless.  I thank [you] with all my heart.”

“Thank you for bringing the Dover Quartet and Chu Fang Huang to my school.  It was a very exciting day for me.  Also, it was so beautiful how [they] got into the music and played their instruments.  Also, ever since their performance it made me look for more of the types of music the Dover Quartet and Chu Fang Huang play at other concerts.  So thank you very much.  It was a very nice thing for you to do for my school and we are thankful to you.”
